The White Milk Republic [2017]

The original members of Donald Trump’s cabinet were the least diverse of any modern presidency. For this piece, portraits of the cabinet were bathed in milk and recorded as they emerge and recede into whiteness. Individual frames of the moving image are isolated and displayed as a grid. As the viewer engages with the work, their motion triggers a series of randomized tweets by President Trump that superimpose over the imagery. The generative nature of the imagery and text responds to the tumult of the administration and its rhetoric of exclusion.
